Personal Biography
Gunner & Family
Gunner was born in the Pacific Northwest and raised in Kent, Washington, where his love for radio started long before it became his career. As a kid, he was already pretending to be "on the air," convincing his dad to take him to RadioShack for cables, microphones, and anything else that could help him build his own little radio setup at home.
After graduating high school in 1999, Gunner went straight into the workforce, working for Horizon Air at Sea-Tac Airport until 2001, just ahead of 9/11. He spent the next few years working a variety of jobs, but the pull toward radio never went away. In 2004, he enrolled in the radio program at Green River College and joined 89.9 FM KGRG, where he served as Program Director and Morning Show Host.
In 2006, Shellie Hart and Clear Channel gave Gunner his first real opportunity with an internship at KNBQ-FM Q-Country 102.9. Within six months, he went from intern to part-time employee to full-time on-air personality and Music Director, officially launching the radio career he had dreamed about since childhood.
Gunner married his wife, Emily, in 2007. Together, they have two daughters, Kaelyn and Taytem. After moving to Phoenix in December 2019, Taytem was diagnosed with Wilms tumor in April 2020, during the height of COVID. Gunner opened up about that journey on the radio in a deeply personal way, sharing the fear, the uncertainty, the hope, and the moments that tested his family most. That vulnerability created a powerful connection with listeners that went far beyond entertainment.

Gunner & Taytem
That experience is a big reason Gunner is so passionate about St. Jude. The St. Jude Wilms tumor protocol was used in Taytem's treatment and, along with countless prayers, helped contribute to her still being here today. Through radiothons and sharing Taytem's story, Gunner has helped raise more than $1.4 million for St. Jude.
Today, Taytem is in remission and living her best life, while Gunner and his family currently reside in Mesa, Arizona.
